Stuart's training style
draws on his background in academia, business, education and music.
During his 8 years in academic research, 18+ years in
the pharmaceutical industry and 30+ years in music Stuart has interacted
with many different disciplines, backgrounds and levels of understanding: from scientists to medics; statisticians to students; artists to
administrators; teachers to young children. He adapts
to his audience and delivers information in an accessible and
memorable way.
Stuart is passionate about clear communication and about helping others
achieve their maximum potential, in whatever sphere of life they operate.
He is also passionate about training that educates rather than just teaches.
Stuart uses a wide range of techniques and approaches in his training,
including workshops alongside more formal delivery of information.
No workshop or training event is ever 'off-the-shelf'. Each
one is designed to deliver what the audience needs (and wants) in a way
they can receive, understand and apply the information they receive.
Stuart
has developed a unique, interactive workshop, The
Clinical Trial Experience for Schools, Colleges and Universities,
allowing participants to actually run their own clinical trial, without
the drugs and needles! These are ideal and can be adapted for
students from Key Stage 3 up to Post-Graduate level, making the complex
easy. These are particularly appropriate and helpful for GCSE
and A-Level science, applied science, social science and psychology
syllabuses.
For situations where workshops are less appropriate, such as within
the time constraints of a lecture programme, Stuart is able to deliver
a broad range of training on clinical trials, clinical research and drug
development, as one-off presentations of an hour or so in length, or as
a series of presentations as part of a course of study e.g., undergraduate
or post-graduate syllabus. He is also able to link in with careers
departments, including valuable information on a range of jobs and careers
not frequently encountered outside of the pharmaceutical industry.

Stuart understands the importance of quickly learning new skills, especially when related to clinical research. A solid foundation is essential for personal and professional development, but today the pressure is greater than ever to be an effective part of a team, as soon as possible after starting. Stuart's training is a great kick-start and grounding in understanding clinical trials and how they fit into the drug development process. His personal experience in the field also allows him to offer a wider range of training to business and industry, including those working in areas allied to, but not necessarily directly involved with, clinical trials e.g., pharmacists, administrators, business managers. These are more than just a fun experience. Stuart uses drums
and percussion to educate, reinforce and revise topics in science, mathematics
and English, particularly at Key Stage 2 & 3. Children develop and
apply important social and teamworking skills and develop the ability to listen.

Sometimes children just need to be children; to let off steam and enjoy being creative together. these workshops allow children to explore sound and playing together in a safe, non-threatening relaxed atmosphere, and to develop a range of social skills which can be applied across school (and personal) life. Stuart believes that many adults miss out on important opportunities to unwind, let-off steam and relax in an atmosphere that is safe and affirming. These workshops allow staff to re-charge and be re-energised so that they can be more effective in their place of work, or at home. Strong evidence links stress relief with a decrease in illness (acute and chronic) and subsequent absence from work. Renewal and development of confidence also provide many long-term positive benefits for employer and employee alike. More information ...
Stuart has a wealth of experience working within the church environment, from church leader to musician. Creativity is often overlooked in favour of the familiar. Teams can easily lose sight of direction, even through simple factors such as sustained focus and busyness. Those we work alongside who should be our support become strangers. Sometimes we simply run out of steam! Creative drumming and percussion workshops provide a great opportunity to refocus, recharge and renew. They are also excellent for building teams, encouraging and releasing, as well as discharging frustrations and stress (yes, that does occur in churches too!). More information ...
With
over 30 years of playing drums and percussion in a
wide range of settings and a passion for sounding good, Stuart is well
placed to help drummers and percussionists keep their gear sounding at
its best. He provides training on tuning drums and percussion, covering
drum kit and World Percussion (he does not cover classical percussion). This
information is especially helpful for churches where there are often other
considerations to take into account. Contact Stuart using the details below.
