Stuart's training style
draws on his background in academia, business, education & music.
During his 8 years in academic research, 18+ years in the pharmaceutical industry & 30+ years in music Stuart has interacted with many different disciplines, backgrounds & levels of understanding: from scientists to medics; statisticians to students; artists to administrators; teachers to young children. He adapts to his audience & delivers information in an accessible & memorable way.
Stuart is passionate about clear communication & about helping others achieve their maximum potential, in whatever sphere of life they operate. He is also passionate about training that 'educates' rather than just teaches. Stuart uses a wide range of techniques & approaches in his training, including workshops alongside more formal delivery of information. No workshop or training event is ever 'off-the-shelf'. Each one is designed to deliver what the audience wants (& needs) in a way they can receive, understand & apply the information provided.
Especially appropriate & helpful for GCSE
& A-Level science, applied science, social science & psychology syllabuses,
undergraduate & post-graduate students
Stuart delivers a wide range of training on clinical trials, clinical research & drug development, either as one-off presentations or as a series of presentations as part of a course of study. He can also provide valuable insight on jobs & careers in the pharmaceutical industry. Learn more from Stuart ...
Stuart uses his pharmaceutical industry experience & his passion for helping others learn in this highly interactive introduction to clinical trials. Specifically designed for schools, colleges & universities, it enables students to understand why & when we need clinical trials, how we design & run clinical trials & how we report & use the information from our trials. All talks & training are customised to your learning objectives & presented in a non-threatening environment. More information ...
This introduction to the basics of pain & nervous transmission is very popular in schools & colleges. Stuart combines his extensive industry experience and his passion for helping others understand & learn using interactive talks to show how our bodies detect, transmit, interpret & respond to pain, along with how drugs influence these pathways to effect pain-relief (analgesia). Consolidating & extending curriculum teaching, this talk can be adapted for students from Year 8 to Year 13. Talks are custom-built around your needs. Learn more.
Stuart also has a passion for things 'creepy crawly.' He has kept many different reptiles & minibeasts (including tarantulas, praying mantis, scorpions & millipedes) for more than 25 years. You can now meet them in person, in your school, college, uniformed organisation or community group. Build self-confidence & self-esteem, bring the science curriculum to life, build confidence & self-esteem, have fun or offer a special reward. Great for all students including SEN & those with behavioural issues. Workshops are run in a safe, non-threatening environment. Learn more ...
These can be more than just a fun experience. Stuart uses drums & percussion to educate, reinforce & revise topics in science, mathematics & English, particularly at Key Stage 1 & 2. Children also develop & apply important social & teamworking skills & develop the ability to listen. However, sometimes children just need to be children; to let off steam & enjoy being creative together. Drumming workshops allow children to explore sound & play together in a safe, non-threatening relaxed atmosphere, where they also develop social skills which they often apply to all areas of school (and personal) life without thinking about it. Find out more on how Stuart can take a workshop to fit your requirements.
Stuart knows the importance of quickly learning new skills, especially when starting in clinical research. A solid foundation is essential for both new personal & development of existing staff. There is great pressure to integrate rapidly, embrace tasks independently & become part of strong teams. This introduction to the basics of clinical trials provides a solid grounding in understanding clinical trials & how they fit into the drug (or medical device) development process. Also great for working in allied areas, such as, administrators & business managers. Learn more ...
Having worked in Corporate Business Stuart understands the need for strong, efficient, successful teams & confident staff who can also work independently. Stuart combines his business experience, his passion for helping people to succeed & his passion for reptiles in Meet The Beasts: reptile & minibeast encounters & handling experiences to overcome fears, thereby building confidence & self-esteem. Open your training event with a unique & memorable ice-breaker; strengthen your teams; bring sparkle to special events. All in a safe, non-threatening environment. Learn more ...
Stuart believes that many adults miss out on important
opportunities to unwind, let-off steam & relax in an atmosphere that is
safe & affirming.
These workshops allow adults (staff, members of arts & community groups) to re-charge & be re-energised so that they can be more effective in their place of work, or at home. Strong evidence links stress relief with a decrease in illness & the resulting absence from work. Renewal & development of confidence also provide many long-term positive benefits for employer & employee alike. Learn more about Drumming & Percussion Workshops for Adults
Stuart has a wealth of experience working within the church environment, from church leader to musician. Creativity is often overlooked in favour of the familiar. Teams can easily lose sight of direction, even through simple factors such as sustained focus & busyness. As a result, those who work alongside us & who should support us become strangers. Sometimes we simply run out of steam! Creative drumming & percussion workshops provide a great opportunity to refocus, recharge & renew. They are also excellent for building teams, encouraging & releasing (discharging frustrations and stress) ... Yes, that does occur in churches too!. More information at Waywood Creative ...
With over 30 years of playing drums & percussion in a wide range of settings & a passion for sounding good, Stuart is well placed to help drummers & percussionists keep their gear sounding at its best. He provides training on tuning drums & percussion, covering drum kit & World Percussion (he does not cover classical percussion). This information is especially helpful for churches where there are often other considerations to take into account. Contact Stuart . More information on tuning is available from Stuart's Waywood Music web site ...
